Abstract

Traditional transceiver design is based around designing sub-components specifically to achieve the required system performance. The approach taken in this work has been to determine whether there are transceiver designs that can achieve necessary overall system functionality while utilising parts not specifically designed for the purpose. This paper contrasts these two alternate approaches by considering a radar design and a millimetre wave imaging front end. It is demonstrated that this approach can provide a “proof of concept” validation of a system design enabling the further evolution of the system solution via custom design.
