Abstract

DANTE IN GERMANY. The article traces the fundamental importance that Dante’s "Divine Comedy" has acquired for German literature, philosophy, and culture since the 15th century. Particular importance is given to the reception of the "Divine Comedy" in the German-language literature of the exile. A prime example of this process is the unique work of Peter Weiss, who has appropriated Dante's "Commedia" like no other and adapted it in various forms. In his "Dante-Projekt", his drama "Die Ermittlung / The Investigation", set in the Frankfurt Auschwitz trials, is of great relevance.
