Abstract
This volume examines intra-group conflict resolution within universities through the lens of dispute system design and peer mediation. Focusing on the “University Dispute Resolution (U.d.r.)” Project at the University of Bologna, it presents the development and implementation of a pilot peer mediation service for students, highlighting its methodological foundations, training model, regulatory framework, and educational impact. The comparative section broadens the analysis to other European and international experiences (e.g. in Spain and the Netherlands), including peer mediation programs, legal frameworks for university conflict management, and the role of organizational ombuds. Overall, the book argues that peer mediation functions not only as a dispute resolution mechanism but also as a cultural and educational tool, contributing to the promotion of dialogue, responsibility, and institutional well-being within higher education.
