Abstract

The present dataset includes data generated as part of the ECLectic project, focusing on the electrochemiluminescence (ECL) behavior of magnetic microbeads covalently functionalized with [Ru(bpy)3]2+ as a function of the half-life of the coreactant's radical cation. These microbeads were studied in presence of different coreactants, namely TPrA, BIDE, BIS-TRIS, and PIDE. The dataset provides evidence of a non-linear, volcano-like relationship between the ECL intensity of single beads and the half-life of the radical cations employed in this work, expanding the current comprehension of the structure-property relationship of ECL coreactants. The tabular file contains data regarding the single-bead ECL intensity of magnetic microbeads covalently functionalized with [Ru(bpy)3](2+) on both, GC and Pt electrodes, in a 0.3 M buffer solution with 100 mM coreactant. The ECL signal was recorded during double-step chronoamperometry measurements at 1.7 V. The semi-empirical deprotonation rate were determined from DFT-derived deprotonation rate constants and simulated concentration profile of radical cations. The ECL is generated via chronoamperometric technique: - 2 s at open circuit potential; - 13 s at 1.7 V vs Ag/AgCl.
