Abstract
This dataset contains data from the evaluation of the effect of sodium ascorbate (ASC), N-acetylcysteine (NAC) and combined on mitochondrial F₁FO-ATPase activity, mitochondrial free thiol content and respiration in isolated swine heart mitochondria.
The aim of the research was to investigate how and if ASC and NAC antioxidants, two compounds with similar redox properties, influence mitochondrial function and also thei combination could have had additive or synergistic effect. The file “ASC_and_NAC_Dataset.zip" contains data relating to the effect of increasing concentrations of ASC, NAC and combined on the hydrolytic activity of F1FO-ATPase ("F-ATPase_hydrolysis.csv"). The activatory mechanism of ASC was investigated through enzyme kinetic studies ("kinetic_analysis.csv").The measurement of mitochondrial free thiol content was performed ("mitochondrial_free_thiol_groups.csv"). Finally, the effect of ASC, NAC and combined was evaluated on mitochondrial respiration ("mitochondrial_respiration.csv").
