Abstract

[Velimir Khlebnikov i Pushkin-budetlyanin] This paper deals with the role of Khlebnikov in the recognition of tradition and Pushkin’s literary canon for the development Russian Futurist theories and practices. The Futurians, as Khlebnikov called the Cubo-Futurists, were in constant dialogue with Pushkin with an outwardly negative attitude (“to throw Pushkin, Tolstoy, Dostoevsky off the Ship of Modernity...”). The conflict between the sharp rejection of tradition and its forced recognition was resolved by reformatting traditional ideas about classical poetry. The Futurists saw in Pushkin the traits of rebellion; denial of norms and rules, as well as social otherness, likened him to the Futurians.
