Abstract
This dataset supports a study of the hatching enzyme in European eel (Anguilla anguilla) embryos obtained after maturation inducing hormonal treatment and assisted reproduction. Comparing vital (N=12) and non-vital (N=12) embryo pools two hours post-fertilisation (t0), and pre-hatching (t55). The focus of the study was, if the obtainable variable hatching rates are due to any discrepancies in the expression of the high choriolytic enzyme 1-like gene, in its collagenase-like choriolytic activity, and/or the intracellular Zn+ concentrations involved in the activation of the enzyme. A qPCR based relative quantification was used for the expression analysis, Collagenase zymography assay for the activity measurement, and Inductively Coupled Plasma-Optical Emission Spectrometry for the quantification of intracellular Zn+ concentrations.
